I smell a blog post coming on..

Todd says that to me at least once a day and is soo dissapointed when he checks my blog and sees that once again, I have not updated it. I'll start by sharing yesterdays blog-able (is that a word) thing.
Eli can't sit still, he is always moving around. While he was not sitting still while eating dinner last night, Todd said that Eli was like a roomba in that he is always moving. I then said he was actually the opposite of a roomba since he is always moving but makes messes everywhere he goes rather than cleaning up meeses.

Now on to some totally unrealted pictures. We headed up to Coastanoa on Saturday to have breakfast. I rarely whip out my camera while eating, but I am trying to take more everyday pictures and wanted to capture the kids just being themselves. Plus..the lighting was really great ; ). If you go through my blog, you will see that the majority of my photos are horizontal and pretty close up. I was happy when I saw that I took more pictures that are horizontal and show a wider view.

Tales from the crib..

Could also be titled.."It is times like this that I do LOVE having 2 children under the age of 4"

Since, as of a week ago, Zoe is finally sleeping through the night in her crib and is no longer nursing I am able to spy on some great conversations between Eli and Zoe.

Yesterday morning Eli was up before Zoe. After about 15 minutes Eli heard Zoe wake up and wanted to go up and get her. I took my time coming up the stairs and hid which led me to hear the two of them talking.
Eli: "Hi Zoe, what did you dream about"
Zoe: "Ummm...I don't know" (her favorite phrase and very clear"
Eli: "Did you dream about doodie"
Zoe: "No" (giggling of course)
Eli them proceeds to tell Zoe that she dreamed about Old Papa and new Papa..going on to say that old papa is mommy's daddy and new papa is daddy's daddy and that new papa bought him the new yellow truck. During this whole time Zoe is just saying "OK". Eli them told Zoe he was going to get mommy and was quite surprised to see me standing right there listening to the whole conversation..it was ADORABLE!

Now..don't let this little story fool you into thinking it is always so wonderful. There are many times when they are screaming at each other and Zoe is hitting Eli. There are also the times when they team up on me and just keep doing all the things I tell them not to. But...for the most part, they really do love each other. Watching them give each other kisses and hugs or read together is always heartwarming. Eli also says "Zoe, hold my hand" when we are walking somewhere and 90% of the time she says "OK", the other 10 % of the time it is "No.."ELI".

Zoe did not wake up barking...

Every time something "cute" happens with the kids, Todd asks me if I wrote it down. I'm really not good about writing those things down because at the time I think there is no way I will ever forget it. Two days later I ask Todd..what was that cute thing Eli did the other day.  So..here I am writing them all down. I am not sure I really want to remember this one, but here goes...   

When Todd got home from work yesterday he gave Eli 2  dog treats to give Mackey. Mackey went outside and we went along with our evening.  Suddenly, Todd remembered that Eli never gave Mackey those treats. Todd asked Eli where the treats were and he could not provide us with a real answer. We glance over at Zoe and she is happily eating something...Todd goes and pries her mouth open to find a little piece left of the dog treat and the other one no where to be found. That little Zoe...she really is her daddy and will eat anything!

Just so you know, Mom, they were all natural treats made with oatmeal, chicken, eggs, apples, carrots. I am very curious to see how these taste, but can not bring myself to do it!

Slow Down!

I feel like I am always saying that to Zoe! She is like a caged animal..as soon as you let her free, she goes! I realized last night that she is just about the age that Eli was when she was born..how could that be?? How could my little baby be almost two. The first two years of Eli's life seemed to go by a little slower..I feel like I we had more time to just stop and smell the roses.  With Zoe..I can barely remember what she was like as an infant..she is all toddler now. While she is so fun and amazing right now..I would not mind an hour or two of infant Zoe..that special smell, that little stretch babies do, the chubby legs. Luckily, Zoe at almost two is pretty fun. She talks SO MUCH and says the funniest things. Todd's recent favorite is "Me too". I love when I get her up from a nap and the first thing she says to me is "good nap"

It is a hard thing to remember..slow down and enjoy the moments and stages that are all special in their own way. I remember with Eli getting so excited for that "next" milestone. With Zoe I learned to enjoy each one as I know they were going to go by so quickly. All that still makes me want to say..slow down Zoe!
